The "Faro del Fin del Mundo", the lighthouse at the end of the world as it is commonly known but the real name is San Juan Salvamento Lighthouse, is to the northeast of the Isla de los Estados, south of Argentina. It has only a height of 6 meters but is 60 meters above sea level.
It is the oldest lighthouse in Argentina and the first to be built in the southern waters: its construction dates back to 1884. In fact, Jules Verne was inspired to write his novel The Lighthouse at the End of the World, published posthumously in 1905.
The original lighthouse remained in ruins for decades, but was recently restored respecting the original design, is an octagonal house, floor, located on a rocky promontory, with the lantern on its roof.
It is a restricted area, but an exact replica of the lighthouse can be seen at the Museo Maritimo in Ushuaia.
There is another lighthouse near Ushuaia, that many people confuse with the Faro del Fin del Mundo, this is the Faro Les Eclaireus, it is nearer to Ushuaia than the Faro del Fin del Mundo, but you can see it closer during excursions made from Ushuaia.
